29th - Not much happening this morning, noted were 58 Siskins moving S in small groups, 5 Blk T Godwits on the scrape. The juvenile Shag was found dead, it appears it had flown into the crane thats being used for the sluice gate repairs.GG.

28th - This morning a juvenile Great Northern Diver was sitting on the sea, close in by the sluice. Otherwise it was quiet with 7 Stonechats seen. GG.Late afternoon 2 Purple Sandpipers on the sluice, 3 Blk T Godwits on the scrape, and a short seawatch produced 22 Common Scoter ,2 Red T Divers N, also a diver sp S.GG/KA/JBS.

25th - Today the scrape was again quiet with only 2 Blk T Godwits and 1 Snipe, best birds were seen along the seawall with 13 Snow Buntings S, a juvenile Shag on the sea, 2 Rock Pipits, 3 (2+1) Purple Sandpipers, 1 Knot N, 25 Siskins (20 N, 5 S), 6 Common Scoter S. GG/PRD/AD/PNs/KA.Late afternoon a Little Auk flew S close in .JBS.A second Shag was also reported.

24th - A very quiet morning after yesterday, 18 Siskins (16 S + 2 N) and 6 Bramblings (4 + 2) S, 1 Rock Pipit N and 1 Purple Sandpiper being the highlights. GG/AD.

23rd - An enjoyable day with a Lapland Bunting flying low S calling continously, but lost to view. 4 Snow Buntings along the seawall 100yrds N of the 2nd gun turret, 6 Purple Sandpipers (5 on the rocks, 1 on the sluice) a 1W Kittiwake on the scrape this morning and 10+ Stonechats along the fences.This afternoon 2 Pomarine Skua flew S and 2 Little Auks, 1 flew N and 1 sitting on the sea by the boating club. Other flyovers were 8 Siskins and 1 Brambling S. 3 Water Rails were heard calling from 3 different locations. GG.

20th - Very quiet on the scrape today only 1 Green Sandpiper and 1 Snipe noteworthy, on the rocks around the sluice were 4 Purple Sandpipers, 2 Sanderlings and 5 Turnstones.

19th - Bits and pieces today, 10 Blk T Godwits, 1 Redshank and 2 Snipe on the scrape,a calling Water Rail, a flyover Grey Wagtail, 1 Fieldfare and a flock of 38 Common Scoters S.

18th - On the scrape mid afternoon were 1 x 3W Caspian Gull, 2 sub adult Yellow legged Gulls and a Herring x LBB Gull hybrid. PRD/PN

17th - No sign of the Dartford Warbler today despite searching, 2 Purple Sandpipers were seen on the rocks. PRD. A late afternoon walk along the seawall produced 4 (3+1) Purple Sandpipers and 8 Turnstones. KA.

16th -  The Dartford Warbler  is still present around the same area though elusive and best located by the occasional call.4 Siskins and 1 Brambling flew N, and only 5 Blk T Godwits could be seen on a half frozen scrape.GG.

15th - A full day in the field produced a few bits and the star bird was a Dartford Warbler that showed well for a short while first thing, in brambles by the 2 white posts at the south end of the golf course, but could not be relocated.Other birds along the seawall were 10+ Stonechats ,1 Purple Sandpiper and a S E Owl sitting in the grass.Flyovers were 20 Siskins 17N 3S, 1 Redpoll N and a Grey Wagtail.The scrape was quite as most of the duck was sitting on the sea but 8 Blk T Godwits and 2 Snipe were seen.A walk around the farm area produced 315+ Golden Plovers, 22 Skylarks and a flock of 60+ Linnets.GG. A Snow Bunting was feeding along the seawall this afternoon. KA. 

14th - Birds seen today were 6 Whooper Swans (4 juvs) sitting on the sea, 4 Little Auks 3N and 1 coming in on the back of a Starling flock.5 Purple Sandpipers and 1 Rock Pipit on the far rocks, 2 White fronted Geese flew N. 10 Stonechats along the paths, flyovers were 8 Siskins 5N 3S and a Grey Wagtail S. Seawatching only yeilded 8 Eider ( 2 males) N and a Great crested Grebe flew S. On the scrape were 14 Blk  Godwits, 4 Snipe and 1 Dunlin. GG. A Shag was flushed from the rocks this afternoon. 13th - Reported today were 1 Little Auk N and 2 Purple Sandpipers on the rocks.JBS. 1 Little Auk on the sea, 6 Common Scoters flew by and a juvenile Shag on the jetty. NR.

12th - A walk along the seawall this afternoon produced 1 Little Auk on the sea and 1 Purple Sandpiper on the far rocks, also 4 Stonechats. On the scrape were 7 Blk T Godwits, 1 Snipe, 5 Red legged Partridge and 1 Little Owl. KA

11th - Seawatching was on the agenda again today and produced 1 juvenile Pomaraine Skua S, 1 Velvet Scoter S, 11 Little Auks 5N 6S, 1 Black T Diver S, 3 Red T Divers, 1 diver ssp N, 1 Red breasted Merganser S, 3 Goldeneye all males S, 4 Eiders (1 male) N, 2 Kittiwakes N, 10 Gannets 8S 2N, 1 Great C Grebe N, Common Scoter 7S 3N, 2 Purple Sandpipers N, 1 Guillemot N, 1 Woodcock in off. Flyovers were 1 Fieldfare E, 2 Siskins N and a very late HOUSE MARTIN S. GG/AD/KA/PRD.Very little on the scrape only 13 Blk T Godwits noteworthy.GG/AD.Late afternoon a Razorbill flew close in along the seawall also a juvenile Arctic Tern. AD/PRD/JBS

10th - A lot of the day was spent sea watching and produced 1 Pomaraine Skua S, 29 Little Auks, 1 Black T Diver S, 3 Red T Divers, 1 Red breasted Merganser N, 2 Guillemots, 33 Shelduck, 1 Gannet N, 1 S E Owl and 2 Woodcocks in off. The scrape held 9 Blk T Godwits and 2 Snipe, surrounding fields held 140+ Golden Plovers. 9 Siskins flew N, and a fine juvenile Arctic Tern showed well sitting on the concrete by the sluice, also seen were 5 Purple Sandpipers, 8 Turnstones and 7 Sanderlings. 9th - A early morning walk along the sea wall produced 1 Snow Bunting, 2 Rock Pipits, 1 Grey Wagtail, 6 Stonechats and 8 Turnstones. On the sea were 1 Fulmar N, 2 Red T Divers, 14 Brent Geese N.On the scrape were 4 Blk T Godwits and a male Marsh Harrier went through.GG. This afternoon 6 Purple Sandpipers were on the seawall rocks, 1 Great C Grebe and 3 Common Scoter flew S. GG/KA. Reported late morning addtions on the scrape were 1 Little Egret, 2 Greenshanks and 4 Dunlin. JK.

8th - 4 Purple Sandpipers were seen this morning, 3 on the sluice and 1 on the seawall rocks, also a S E Owl on the rocks. JBS

7th - 4 Turnstones on the scrape, a walk along to Frinton produced 1 Purple Sandpiper on the rocks, also 2 Goldcrests, 6 Stonechats and a Sparrowhawk. KA. 7 Bewick Swans were seen flying of from the scrape area. MC.

5th Reported today were 1 Red T Diver, 3 Common Scoter and 14 Brent Geese N, also seen 26 Curlew, 3 Snipe and 1 Turnstone. SC.

4th - A S E Owl was noted on one of the fence posts as were 5 Stonechats.Flyovers were 1 Grey Wagtail and 1 Siskin S, on the scrape were300+ Wigeon, 175 Teal, 17 Shoveler and 2 Snipe. At sea 170 Common Scoter and 100+ Brent Geese flew S, a Red T Diver was sitting on the water. PRD

3rd - On the scrape this morning were 2 Ruff, 2 Curlew and an impressive 32 Snipe. 2 Greenshank's dropped in for a brief time before heading S.Also seen was 1 Purple Sandpiper on the rocks by the golf course, 7 Sanderling on the beach and 11 Stonechat along the golf course edge.KA. A Med Gull was also reported .JK. 

1st - Early morning started with 2 late Swallows and 4 Siskins heading S. On the scrape 8 Blk T Godwits, 3 Ruff, 3 Dunlin and 1 Snipe all flushed unfortunately. 1 Greenshank and 1 Redshank dropped in for a while.9 Skylarks in off the sea. Seawatching produced 1 Great crested Grebe, 2 Red throated Divers and 8 Common Scoters all S. A Purple Sandpiper on the rocks by the 2nd gun turret. GG.
