2016 Summary

2016 was our best annual ringing total since the group formed with a final total of 1302 birds ringed from 47 ringing sessions. This total was 302 greater than the previous year despite 24 fewer visits.

The totals were greatly inflated by a magnificent day on 19th September when 333 birds were ringed from the reed bed nets.

Number of species was down by 7 on last year, but on the positive side 25 House Martins ringed were our first many years.

2015 Summary

1000 birds ringed of 47 species being our best ever end of year total. This has been achieved by an increase in the number of visits 71 compared vs 52 in 2014.

We have also introduced another netting area along the hedge at the back of the scrape which includes nets in the scrape reed bed. This new site has greatly increased our Reed and Sedge Warbler as well as Whitethroats numbers this year.

Highlights of the year were 3 new species ringed; being Dartford Warbler, Coal Tit and our first breeding Black headed Gulls produced 7 fledged young.

Best control for the period was a Spanish ringed Sedge Warbler and 1 of our Sedge Warblers was recovered at Villafranque France.

2014 Review

A final total of 825 birds ringed of 48 species was a big increase on the previous 2 years. These numbers have been inflated due to the introduction of a reed bed net.

Highlights  were 4 new species ringed being Marsh Warbler, Wood Warbler, Jackdaw and Stock Dove and a controlled Reed Warbler from Stavanger/Norway.

Saturday 3rd Aug 13 – Still very few migrants on site. A session produced Reed Warbler 1, Whitethroat, Willow Warbler 1, Great Tit 1(2), Blue Tit 3(1), Dunnock 2(1), Blackbird 1(1), Wren 2 and Greenfinch (1).

Wednesday 24th July 13 – 2 Avocet chicks colour ringed today. An single chick was also metal ringed.

Saturday 13th July 13 – A six hour session but very few birds on site resulted in another low catch considering the time of year. Birds caught were Reed Warbler 1, Whitethroat 2(1),  Chiffchaff 1, Greenfinch 2, Great Tit 1, Blue Tit 1, Wren 1, Dunnock 4.  Of note 9 pullus Lapwing have been ringed.

Thursday 4th July 13 – A pullus ringing session resulted in 3 Avocets being fitted with colour rings and a new site ringing record of a single Oystercatcher

Friday 28th June 13 – 6 nets up for 5 hours and accounted for Linnet 1, L T Tit 7 (2), Great Tit 2, Robin 1, Dunnock 1 and Chaffinch (2).

Tuesday 11th June 13 – A four hour session with 4 nets up and totals were Robin 5, Dunnock 2 (1), Wren 1, Greenfinch 2 & Blackbird 1 (2). 

Saturday 4th May 13 – 6 nets up for 4 plus hours and not a single bird caught . 

Saturday 27th Apr 13 – E/NE winds this morning and totals were Whitethroat 1, Chiffchaff 2,Willow Warbler 3, Blackcap 1, Reed Warbler 1, Goldcrest 1, Sparrowhawk 1 and Dunnock 1 (2),

Wednesday 23rd Apr 13 – A single net up in the garden of one of the sluice cottages and added a Cettis Warbler to the totals.

Saturday 13th Apr 13 – A morning .session proved worthwhile with the capture of the groups 3rd Firecrest along with Goldcrest 1 , Chaffinch 1, Blackbird 3 (1) , Dunnock 2, Great Tit 1 and Blue Tit (1).

Thursday 7th Mar 13 - 2 nets up at the feeders and we managed to catch, Blackbirds 3, Robin 1 (2) Dunnock 1 (1) and Great Tit 2 (2)

Saturday 2nd Mar 13 The first session of the year and 3 nets accounted for Chaffinch 2, Blue Tit 1 (2), LT Tit 1 (1), Dunnock (1) and Great Tit (1).

Sunday 23rd Dec 12 – 1 net up and just 1 new Robin and a retrap Blue Tit in 2 hours but frustratingly 27 Waxwings flew over the net and continued south.  

Friday 2nd Nov 12 – Breezy conditions reduced this session to a 0815-1115 hrs stint but despite the wind we managed to trap and ring 7 new birds and 1 retrap. Birds were Chaffinch 1, Blackbird 5 (1) and Great Tit 1.

Sunday 28th Oct 12 – A 0630 start with several nets to account for Goldcrest 3 (1) , Goldfinch 5,  Chaffinch 5 (2) , Blackbird 14 (1) , Wren 1 (2), Dunnock 1 (1), Robin (1) and Jay 1. Highlight of the day was a controlled Blackbird from HELGOLAND.

Friday 26th Oct 12 - A strong NE wind eased by early afternoon. 1 net up between 1330-1530 hrs produced Chiffchaff 1, Goldcrest 8, Blackbird 3, Chaffinch 1 and Great Tit (1).

Sunday 21th Oct 12 – A 0700 hrs start soon came to a halt due to rain. Birds caught were Goldcrest 3 (1), Robin 1, Blue Tit 1 and Dunnock

Friday 19th Oct 12 – 5 nets up from 0715hrs but the birds were not there. His totals were Goldcrest 1 (2), Robin 1, Wren 1 ,Dunnock 1. 

Sunday 14th Oct 12 – A light NW wind and bright, again all 13 net rides were in use between 0700 – 1430 hrs. 24 new birds and 7 retraps being, Lesser Redpoll 4, Chiffchaff 1, Blackcap 1, Goldcrest 6, Redwing 1, Song Thrush 1, Blackbird 2, Great spotted Woodpecker 2 , Chaffinch 3, Dunnock 1, Blue Tit 3 (2), Great Tit  (2)., Long tailed Tit (1).

Tuesday 9th Oct 12 – A short session between 0830 – 1130 hrs and with 4 nets up accounted for just Jay 1, Blue Tit 1  Great Tit (1).

Sunday 7th Oct 12 – All 13 net rides were in use this morning between 0630 – 1330 hrs and totals included the group’s first ever Grey Wagtail also Chiffchaff 3, Blackcap 3, Goldcrest 7, Robin 2 (5), Blue Tit (4), Great Tit 2 (1), Blackbird 1, Wren 3 (1), Chaffinch 1.

Saturday 30th Sept 12 – 9 nets between 0630 – 1230 and with a heavy fall of leaves he was kept busy on the extraction front. Bird caught were Blackcap 5, Chiffchaff 6, Goldcrest 1, Robin 2 (1), Dunnock 2, Blue Tit 1, Long tailed Tit (2),  Great Tit (1).

Thursday 27th Sept 12 – 3 nets up during a 3 hours session his totals were: Blue Tit 2 (3), Long tailed Tit 1 (1), Great Tit (2).

Monday 24th Sept 12 – Rain stopped play before it even started this morning with the nets having to be closed after just 10 minutes. Dunnock 1, Blue Tit (1)

Saturday 22nd Sept 12 – A session between 0615 – 1200 hrs SC had just 6 new birds being Blackcap 4, Dunnock 1, Great tit 1. 

Wednesday 19th Sept 12 – 4 nets up during a 3 hour session and his captures were  Willow Warbler 1, LT Tit 2(3), Great tit 1, Blue tit 2, Wren 1  and  Goldfinch 1. Role on some Easterlies...

Sunday 16th Sept 12 – Overcast conditions helped today. Nets up in both area’s and accounted for 36 new birds being: Blackcap 3, Lesser Whitethroat 1, Chiffchaff 4,  Willow Warbler 1, Meadow Pipit 2,  GS Woodpecker 1,  Robin 1,  LT Tit 10 (2), Great tit 3 (2), Dunnock 2 , Blue tit 5 (2), Wren 1, Blackbird 2

Sunday 2nd Sept 12 – 8 nets up and accounted for Reed Warbler 1, Blackcap 1, Cetti's Warbler 1, Robin 3, Blackbird 2, LT Tit 1, Dunock 2, Great Tit 1(1) and Blue Tit 1(1)

Monday 20th Aug 12 – A short session up at the farm and accounted for Whitethroat 3, Reed Bunting 1 and Corn Bunting 1.

Sunday 19th Aug 12 – Nets in all the rides between 0500-1000 hrs  the going was tough with just 9 birds caught being Garden Warbler 1, Great tit 2 (2), Dunnock 1 (1), Blue tit (1) and Wren (1).

Saturday 4th Aug 12 - 4 nets and caught just 1  migrant a Reed Warbler along with Robin 3, Wren 2, Blackbird 1, Blue tit (2) and a Dunnock (1) 

Saturday 21st July 12 - 4 nets to account for 29 birds inc 5 retraps which where 2 Blackcap, Whitethroat 1  (1), Reed Warbler 1 (1) , Robin 2, Wren 1, Great Tit 8 (1),  Blue tits 9 (1) and Chaffinch (1). 

Saturday 30th June 12 – 3 nets up but little activity with just 8 new bird and 1 retrap caught, new birds were 1 Blackcap, 1 Robin, 1 Blackbird, 4 Great Tit and 1 Blue Tit.

Friday 26th June 12 – 13 new birds and a controlled Greenfinch new birds were 3 Reed Warblers, 1 Whitethroat, 1 Robin, 1 Blackbird, 1 Goldfinch, 1 Greenfinch, 1 Wren, 1 Blue Tit and 3 Dunnocks.  

Saturday 2nd June 12 – 1 new Whitethroat ringed.

Friday 1st June 12 – 4 nets up and accounted for 8 new birds, 8 retaps and a controlled Chiffchaff, new birds being 2 Lesser Whitethroat, 1 Whitethroat, 2 3j Robin, 2 3j Blackbirds and a Greenfinch.

Sunday 13th May 12 – Nets up in both areas, the feeding station proved to be a waste of time, Thankfully the main compound  faired better with 10 new birds ringed being 2 Willow Warbler, 2 Reed Warbler, 3 Whitethroat, 1  Lesser Whitethroat and 2 Long T Tits. One of the retaps was a Lesser Whitethroat we ringed in 2009. 

Monday 7th May 12 – A bit slow, but by far the best bird of the day was a re trapped female Cuckoo that I had ringed in 2010.  New birds were 4 Whitethroat, 1 Blackcap, 1 Linnet, 1 Robin and 1 Dunnock.

Thursday 3rd May 12 – A short session and trapped a fine male Pied Flycatcher, 1 Blackcap and 1 Chiffchaff.

Saturday 14th Apr 12- A short session was triggered by the sound of a singing Common Redstart in the compound but alas no joy. Only new birds were 1 Willow Warbler and 1 Wren.

Saturday 7th Apr 12- 3 nets up and accounted for a total of 16 birds of which 9 were new being 1 Chiffchaff, 1 Blackcap, 4 Greenfinch, 1 Wren, 1 Great Tit and 1 Dunnock.

Friday 30th Mar 12- 1 new Blackbird to ring.

Sunday 25th Mar 12- Totals of 16 birds of which 6 were new being 1 Song Thrush, 2 Chaffinch, 2 Greenfinch and a Blue Tit. 

 

Sunday 18th Mar 12-  Targeted 1 bird and a Cetti's Warbler was added to this years totals. 

Saturday 17th Mar 12-  Showers hampered things today but we did manage to catch 18 birds of which 7 were new. New were 2 Blackcap 4 Greenfinch, 1 Chaffinch.

Saturday 3rd Mar 12-  Nets were put up at the "feeders" and produced 8 new birds and 18 retraps.  New birds were totals were: 4 Greenfinch, 1 Chaffinch, 2 Great Tit and 1 Blue Tit.

Saturday 18th Feb 12-  A long session produced a total of 46 birds being caught, 25 were retaps. New birds totalled 21 and included the groups 2nd ever House Sparrow also 6 Greenfinch, 8 Lotti's, 1 Song Thrush, 1 Dunnock, 1 Blackbird, 1 Great Tit snd 2 Blue Tit.

Saturday 11th Feb 12-  The cold spell continues so regular net rounds were adopted, thrushes made up the numbers today with 10 new birds caught and 15 retraps. Totals were: 1 Chaffinch, 1 Robin, 4 Song Thrush and 4 Blackbirds.

Saturday 28h Jan 12-  Nets up at all 3 Feeder areas and caught a total of 38 birds of with 15 were  new: 1 Green Woodpecker, 5 Greenfinch, 1 Chaffinch, 1 Song Thrush, 2 Blackbird, 2 Dunnock, 1 Robin and 2 Blue Tit.

Saturday 21st Jan 12- A few birds were attracted to the feeders but the increasing wind stopped us in our tracks and the nets were soon taken down. 4 Birds were caught with only 1 being new 1 Dunnock.

Saturday 17th Dec 11-  The cold spell appears to have encouraged the birds to finally use the feeders, a session today saw GG catch a total of 29 birds of which 18 were new: 1 Chiffchaff, 10 Greenfinch,1 Goldfinch,1 Chaffinch3 Robin,1 Dunnock,1 Song Thrush,also 11 retraps.

Saturday 10th Dec 11-  A short session . A total of 12 birds were caught of which 5 were new 2 Chaffinch,1 Greenfinch,2 Blackbirds

Saturday 19th Nov 11 -  Not many bird noted around the site.Nets up in the main compound, 13 + new birds were caught being:

Friday 4th Nov 11 - A few nets and caught 16 birds of which 8 were new, being6 Goldfinch, 1 Song Thrush, 1 Robin & 8 retraps. 

Sunday 30th Oct 11 – 2 nets up for 3 hours and produced just 4 birds, only bird ringed was a Goldfinch

Saturday 29th Oct 11 – All the nets up today. 5 new and 1 control Lesser Redpoll were caught, this doubled the sites all time total for this species. Another surprise today was 2 female Bullfinch. Both of these species are additions to the recent campaign. Other birds rung today were

Friday 28th Oct 11 – Nets up in both area’s, but the feeding station proved to be a bird free zone with just 1 retrap caught. The main area fared better with 48 birds caught, 23 were new and the breakdown was: 2 Blackcap, 4 Blackbird, 4 Chaffinch, 2 Robin, 1 Great Tit, 3 Blue Tit, 6 LT Tit and 1 Wren.

Saturday 22nd Oct 11 –A total 26 birds were caught and 12 of these were new birds, these were: 1 Blackcap,3 Blackbird , 2 Chaffinch , 5 Blue Tit and 3 Robin.

A Long tailed tit ringed at the Haven on the 15th was caught by Simon (SC) on the 20th at the John Weston reserve

Saturday 15th Oct 11 – With some good rarities along the east coast PN tried his luck, setting nets in the main ringing area. A total 44 birds were caught but no rares.  New birds were: 1 Blackcap, 3 Blackbird, 1 Song Thrush, 3 Chaffinch, 3 Goldfinch, 4 Blue Tit, 5 Great Tit, 3 Robin,1 Dunnock, 6 LT Tit.

Friday 14th Oct 11 – 9 new birds, these were: 2 Goldcrest, 2 Robin, 1 Song Thrush, 1 Blackbird, 1 Chaffinch, 1 Goldfinch and  1 Wren.

Monday 10th Oct 11 - Nets up for 3 hours this morning and caught 6 new birds,2 Goldcrest, 1 Blackcap, 2 Song Thrush, and 1 Chaffinch.

Saturday 8thth Oct 11 – 7 new birds.

Saturday 1st Oct 11 – 4 nets up and bagged 9 new birds. Despite temperatures reaching the high twenties it did not stop the arrival a female Brambling to the nets, this is only the groups 3rd ringing record of this species.

Thursday 29th Sept 11 – 9 new birds.  Totals were:1 Goldcrest, 2 Blackcap , 2 Goldfinch and 4 Blue Tits.

Sunday 25th Sept 11 – 3 nets up in the main area but no birds moving through. Only 1 Goldfinch and 3 retraps were caught. (GG). 

Saturday 24th Sept 11 – All the nets up today and bagged 25 new birds. 

A tape lured Meadow Pipit was our first for the new campaign and hopefully the first of many, also ringed were:2 Blackcap, 6 Goldfinch, 7 Blue Tit, 2 Great Tit, 7 LT Tits and 11 retraps.

Thursday 22nd Sept 11 – 10 new birds we caught, being 2 Blackcap,              1 Chiffchaff, 1 Robin, 4 Blue Tit, 1 Greenfinch and 1 Collared Dove also 7 retraps.

Sunday18th Sept 11– A lot of birds about early but again working the outer edge of the ringing area, despite that we still managed to catch 14 birds. New birds were: 3 Blackcap, 3 Blue Tit, 2 Great Tit, 1 Wren & 1 Green Woodpecker, 4 retraps were also caught. 

Saturday 17th Sept 11 – All the nets up, a few birds about and a total of 26 birds were caught, 15 new birds were: 6 Chiffchaff, 1 Blackcap, 4 Blue Tit, 2 Robin & 1 Greenfinch.

Thursday 15th Sept 11 – Simon and Pat Cox made a surprise and welcome visit today and put up 8 nets with great affect.

Weds 7th – Saturday 10th Sept 11 – GG had nets up on all days and PN put as session in on Saturday morning. Going was tough on all days with birds being on site but not many passing through the ringing area. A total of 35 new birds were caught being:

Saturday 27th Aug 11 - 4 nets up despite a westerly wind, things were slow with 14 birds being trapped, 4 retraps and 10 new birds:

Saturday 20thAug 11 - A long session today and netted 55 birds of which 29 were new. 1 Garden Warbler, 1 Reed Warbler, 1 Common Whitethroat, 1 Lesser Whitethroat, 1 Willow Warbler, 2 Blackcap,2 Greenfinch, 2 Chaffinch, 1 Robin, 2 Great tit, 6 Blue tit, 1 LT Tit, 1 Blackbird, 3 Wren, 1 Dunnock, 1 Sparrowhawk (1st yr male) & 1 Collared Dove.

Wednesday 17thAug 11 – SC had the nets up bit the birds were not playing today. A number of retraps were caught but only 4 new being: 1 Whitethroat, 1 Robin and 2 Blue Tits.

Sunday 14thAug 11 – Nets were put up in both areas. The sun was soon on the nets and hampered things but we did manage to catch a total of 23 new birds:1 Garden Warbler, 5 Reed Warbler, 1 Common Whitethroat, 1 Lesser Whitethroat, 1 Willow Warbler, 4 Greenfinch, 2 Goldfinch, 1 Chaffinch, 4 Robin, 1 Great tit, 1 Blue tit & a Wood Pigeon

Saturday 13th Aug 11 - Rain delayed the start so nets were not put up until 1130, and the feeding compound at times had more squirrels than birds around the feeders. A total of 26 new birds were netted, these were: 4 Reed Warbler, 4 Common Whitethroat, 2 Swallow, 1 Linnet, 5 Greenfinch, 4 Goldfinch, 1 Blackbird, 1 Wren, 2 Great tit & 1 Blue tit.

Thursday 11th Aug 11 - Rain shortened today’s session at this point only six new birds were ringed, these were 1 Willow Warbler, 1 Reed Warbler, 1 Lesser whitethroat, 2 Swallow and 1 Robin.

Saturday 6thAug 11 – The feeding compound was again disappointing but we still managed to catch a total of 42 to ring. New birds were: 3 Reed Warbler, 2 Lesser Whitethroat, 3 Common Whitethroat, 1 Blackcap, 7 Greenfinch, 20 Goldfinch, 1 Robin, 1 Wren, 1 Great tit, 1 Blue tit, 1 Dunnock.

Saturday 30th Jul 11 – A late start, The feeding compound was disappointing only producing a handful of birds but the main area fared better.

A total of 61 new birds were netted, these were:1 Willow Warbler, 1 Garden Warbler (scarce on site), 1 Sedge Warbler, 10 Reed Warbler, 2 Lesser Whitethroat, 7 Common Whitethroat, 2 Blackcap, 3 Blue tit, 6 Dunnock, 1 Linnet, 13 Greenfinch, 8 Goldfinch, 1 Blackbird, 1 Pied Wagtail, 1 Robin, 1 Wren, 1 Great tit & a juv Green Woodpecker. 2 of last years Reed Warblers were among the retraps.   

Saturday 23rd Jul 11 – Nets up in both areas and a total of 55 birds were netted.

New birds totalled 33 and were:2 Reed Warbler, 2 Lesser & 7 Common Whitethroat, 2 Willow Warbler, 3 Blue tit, 10 L t tit, 2 Dunnock, 1 Greenfinch, 2 Chaffinch & 1 Goldfinch.

Monday 9th July 11 – A few more migrants are starting to appear a total of 50 birds were netted. 33 of these were new birds consisting of: 11 Greenfinch, 2 Chaffinch, 1 Goldfinch, 3 Reed Warbler, 1 Lesser Whitethroat, 2 Common Whitethroat, 2 Great tit, 8 Blue tit, 1 Robin and 2 Dunnock. 

Saturday 7th Jul 11 – Nets up in both areas and netted 48 birds, 33 of these were new birds being 11 Greenfinch, 2 Chaffinch, 1 Goldfinch, 3 Reed Warbler, 1 Lesser Whtethroat, 2 Common Whitethroat, 2 Great tit, 8 Blue tit, 1 Robin & 2 Dunnock.

A Reed warbler from last year was amongst the retrtaps.

Saturday 23rd Apr 11- A few migrants about but not much caught. New birds were: 3 Blackcaps & 1 Whitethroat Retraps included 2 of last years Whitethroats.

Saturday 8th Apr 11 The first migrant on the year was caught this morning along with a few other bits. Things were slow, but we managed to ring: 1 Chiffchaff, 1 Greenfinch, 1 Chaffinch, 1 Robin, 1 Wren, 1 Dunnock and 1 Blackbird.

Saturday 19th Mar 11 - After reports of lots of finches being present during the week we decided to put up 5 nets late morning, They had obviously passed through and things were quite, 15 birds were caught, 6 of which were new. 3 Blackbirds, 1 Great Tit, 1 LT Tit and a Chaffinch.

Monday 21st Feb 11 - A big thanks goes out to Leon, as today he gave us a gift in the form of a ringing hut, Superb! This is much appreciated and will be a great asset to the ringing group

Saturday 12th Feb 11 - It seems ages since our last visit, and even this morning was touch and go due to waking to heavy drizzle, this had cleared by 1030'ish so we put up 3 nets. The team PN,TP and GG were rewarded with a total of 9 birds. 3 were new, 1 Blue Tit, 1 Chaffinch and a Kestrel (a fine male)

Saturday 8th Jan 11 - A work party this morning, a couple of new rides were created along with a drinking pool.

Saturday 1st Jan 2011 - With the freezing weather now behind us we decided to have a go, 4 nets were erected in the compound, but little reward with just 5 new birds, 3 Blackbirds, 1 Robin & 1 Blue Tit.

Saturday 11th Dec 10 - Just 4 new birds today: 1 Green Woodpecker, 1 Chaffinch, 1 Blackbird & 1 Blue Tit.

Saturday 27th Nov 10- A late start while we waited for the temperature to rise, by 1030 we had 5 nets up, 3 in the main area and 2 in the feeding station. We were ready for action. The bird of the day was the groups 4th Cetti's Warbler (all this year).

Totals for the day were 36, including 11 new, 1 Cetti's Warbler, 5 Chaffinches, 2 Blackbirds, 1 Dunnock and 2 Blue Tits.

Saturday 20th Nov 10 -With TP and PRD elsewhere and GG gull ringing at Pitsea the team was down to one, Peter Newton. He woke at 8 am, due to a bit of a session the previous night, but decided to have go as the weather was flat calm. He set up 3 net in the main ringing area, the feeding station was "dead". 3 hours produced 17 birds, new one's were: 1 Blackcap, 1 Sparrowhawk (male), 1 Chaffinch, 1 Blackbird, 1 Blue Tit

One of last weeks Goldcrests were amongst the retraps.  

Saturday 13th Nov 10 - Flat calm, overcast conditions today, Siskins and Goldfinches were moving S in good numbers, but unfortunately showed no interest our feeders.

All 9 nets we put up, "Killer 2" lived up to its name, taking a mere 40 minutes to erect, due to numerous knots (not of the feathered kind though). A total of 40 birds were trapped.

13 new birds, included the groups first Redwing of the current campaign

Totals were:

1 Redwing

2 Goldcrest

3 Chaffinch

3 Blackbird

4 Blue Tit.

Retraps included a Jay and a Magpie

A Woodcock was flushed from one of the rides when taking the nets down, maybe next time!

Target bird of the day was Turnstone. Usually approachable, but I think we my need a better plan as they obviously knew what we was up to and uncharacteristically flew on the Sluice.

Saturday 6th Nov 10 - The 3 of us, Peter Newton, Terry Palmer and me Gary Gardiner had the 9 nets up by 0750 hrs, 3 at the feeders and 6 in the compound. Weather conditions were calmer than recent weekends, the feeder levels had dropped quickly and the apples that were put down last weekend to attract thrushes are showing signs of being eaten and finally a bit of viz mig going on, optimism was high.

A total of 32 birds, of which 11 were "New" .We were somewhat disappointed.

Peter suggested we try for the Bearded Tits that had been present for a few days. We put together enough kit to set up 1 net and headed to the reed bed were they were last seen. We soon found them and started to erect the net, and of course, off they flew. After a couple of attempts we finally netted 4. One of these was a control from Suffolk.

1 Song Thrush

2 Chaffinch

1 Robin.

4 Bearded Tit ( inc 1 control)
