1st - Bitterly cold with N/NW winds but dry.  An early start today but little to report.  Off-shore, 3 Eider headed N as did 2 Blk-T Divers, 1 Red-T Diver and 3 very distant Diver sp.  1 Grey Plover and 3 Turnstones were on the shoreline.  On the still very flooded scrape, Blk T Godwits numbered 17, Shoveler at 27 and 5 Redshanks picked up from the rear of the island. KA/GG.

2nd - A Guillemot was noted today near the sluice. PB.

3rd - Freezing!!  This morning saw the scrape at least 80% frozen and the seawall was somewhat treacherous. Winds though slight were bitterly cold. Sightings included 11 White fronted Geese, 10 Blk T Godwits, 5 Snipe, 2 Redshank, 6 Stonechats, 1 Purple Sandpiper, 1 Sanderling and feeding well just off-shore were 2 Red-T Divers. 6th - A typical cold but dry winters day, provided the highlight just before noon, of an adult Caspian Gull.  It was seen flying onto the scrape where it was viewed for a short while, prior to it heading off NE. PRD.  Other birds noted for today included 9 Blk T Godwits, 1 Snipe, 16 Shoveler, 3 Curlew and 7 Stonechats. PRD/KA.    

7th - Mild and bright with a slight breeze.  The scrape was again some 80% frozen this morning and was still partially frozen this afternoon.  8 Blk T Godwits, 3 Snipe, 1 Redshank, 1 Little Grebe, 1 Pink footed and 56 Brent Geese were on the scrape and a male Marsh Harrier quartered the fields either side.  Also noted were c40 Golden Plover,  7 Stonechats, 1 Sanderling, 1 Turnstone and 550 Wigeon. KA/PNs/PRD.   Viewed from the carpark were 1 Little Egret, 1 Fieldfare and 2 Goldcrests. JBS

10th - Bright, Cold with a NW'ly wind today, seawatching this morning and a Bonxie was harassing a Herring Gull offshore and then flew S as did 13 Common Scoters. A Great Northern and 4 Red throated Divers flew N. A Snow Bunting appeared to come in/off then headed towards the golf course but could not be relocated. The sluice had a few birds on and off, being 1 Purple Sandpiper, 1 Sanderling, 1 Redshank and 2 Oystercatchers. GG. Birds seen along the seawall and from the hide were 1 Pink footed Goose, 8 Blk T Godwits and 7 Stonechats, also a Grey Wagtail on the Sewage Farm and a Bullfinch behind the houses. KA. 2 Water Rail were reported as being seen from the hide.

11th - Weather as yesterday but fewer birds with 1 Purple Sandpiper, 4 Sanderling, 1 Redshank around the sluice area. Birds seen from the hide were 1 Pink footed Goose, 8 Blk T Godwits, 4 Gadwall and 36 Shovelers amongst the Teal and Wigeon, also 4 Stonechats.KA/SC/GG.

12th - Visibility poor due to fog across the entire site during an early visit.  13 White fronted Geese were flushed from the scrape area and flew W. GG.  Later in the day, the White-fronts were back on the scrape, along with 1 Pink footed and 21 Brent Geese, 4 Blk T Godwits and 23 Curlew. JK.  

13th - A seawatch in light rain with SE winds this morning (08.15 to 09.25) included sightings of 4 Common Scoter, 12 Brent Geese and 4 Sanderling all S.  Heading N were 17 adult Kittiwake, 75 Common Gulls, 1 adult Med Gull and 3 Red Throated Divers, also 4 distant Diver sp. GE.  

14th - Mild and dry to begin with, icy winds late morning into afternoon.  Visits to the hide provided views of 3 Dunlin, 3 Redshank, 15 Blk T Godwits, 1 Pink footed and 40+ Brent Geese and 3+ Green Woodpeckers.  5 Stonechats were seen around the site. Along the seawall were 2 Purple Sandpipers and on the sluice were 1 of each Sanderling and Turnstone. KA/PRD.      

15th - Grey and damp morning with a light N wind. The scrape held 5 Blk T Godwits, 1 Redshank, 1 Pink footed Goose and 125+ Brents. 2 Sanderling were on the beach and 2 Stonechats by the Sewage Farm. GG.    

16th - Another grey and damp morning with a W wind. Along the beach were 3 Knot, 4 Sanderling and 5 Turnstones. The scrape and surrounding fields held 3 Ruff, 5 Gadwall, 1 Blk T Godwit, 3 Snipe and the Pink footed Goose.GG/KA. 

17th - An early afternoon visit in very bright but bitterly cold conditions. Viewed across the scrape were 8 Blk T Godwits, 1 Redshank and 23 Brent Geese.  11 White fronted Geese and 4 Stonechats were located across the fields.  2 Sanderling, 1 Turnstone and 11 more Brents were seen from the seawall.  Also noted for behind the carpark, 1 Redshank and 1 Goldcrest. KA.  Reported on the board were 2 Ruff and 1 Pink footed Goose. JK.

18th - Very mild, bright sunshine with light SSW winds.  A morning visit provided sightings again of 2 Sanderling and 1 Turnstone in the sluice area, also 2 Stonechats.  From the hide, 13 White fronted Geese were showing very well to the right of the reed bed.  On the scrape were 8 Blk T Godwits, 2 Gadwall, 1 Snipe, 1 Redshank, 22 Shoveler, 4 Shelduck and 6 Brent Geese.  Also noted were 2 Sparrowhawks and a Little Owl. KA.

19th - Reports for today included 2+ Bullfinch, 2 Redshank, 7 Blk T Godwits, 2 Gadwall, 1 Pink footed and 5 Brent Geese. AEC.

21st - Dry and bright with strong SW winds.  Birds noted for the scrape area today included 2prs Gadwall, 11 Blk T Godwits, 1 Snipe, 5 Shelduck, 1 Pink footed Goose and 4 Stonechats.  12 White fronted Geese were in the fields behind the sewage farm.  4 Turnstones were on the beach. KA.  

22nd - Mild with very slight NW winds during late morning.  Much the same as yesterday's report with the following being noted on and around the scrape area, 3 Stonechats, 11 Blk T Godwits, 2 Gadwall, 13 White fronted Geese, 1 Snipe and 1 Little Egret. KA/MR.  

23rd - Very mild but overcast on site.  An ideal calm sea - unfortunately mainly obscured by fog!  Viewed from the hide across both sides of the reed bed were 600+ Wigeon, 32 Shoveler,27 Curlew,2 Gadwall, 14 Blk T Godwits, 1 of each Snipe and Brent Goose, 3 Stonechats and 2 Sparrowhawks.  Neither the Pink Footed or White Fronted Geese could be located today. KA.  

24th - A typical cold grey winters day.  10 Blk T Godwits, 1 Snipe, 17 Brent Geese, 1 Redshank, 1 Pink footed Goose, 5 Stonechats, 16 Curlew, 13 White fronted Geese, 4 Goldcrest, 3 Purple Sandpipers along with 3 Turnstones were included in the birds noted today. GG/KA.  

25th - Overcast with strong E/SE winds.  The fields behind the carpark held the Pink Footed alongside the 13 White fronted Geese.  Birds on the scrape and towards the golf course included 11 Blk T Godwits, 46 Shoveler, 1 Brent Goose and 5 Stonechats.  5 Purple Sandpipers with 4 Turnstones were located between the 1st and 2nd turrets. KA.  An afternoon visit provided very brief views of 2 Snow Buntings. JBS

26th - A visit in bitterly cold conditions saw only 2 Brent Geese of note. JBS.

27th - A cold easterly wind and dull conditions this morning, 27 White fronted Geese and a single Pink footed Goose were in the fields behind the Sewage Farm. The scrape held 33 Blk T Godwits, 3 Redshanks, 4 Snipe, 7 Turnstones and an adult Yellow legged Gull. Along the seawall walk were 7 Stonechats and at sea 1 adult Kittiwake, 1 Red T Diver and 6 Shelduck were noted. KA/PRD/CJ/PNt/GG

28th - During an afternoon visit to the hide 31 Blk T Godwits, c40 Curlew, 2 Snipe, 3 Turnstones, 2 Stonechats, 1 Pink footed along with 24 White fronted Geese were noted. KA/GG.  1 Woodcock was seen on the approach road. GG

29th - Dry, freezing cold with strong winds.  This mornings visits provided sightings of 14 Canada Geese on the west side of the Haven.  Views from the hide gave 8 Blk T Godwits, 2 Gadwall, 4 Redshank, 1 Turnstone, 1 Pink footed, 27 White fronted and 59 Brent Geese.  A single Stonechat was seen by the sluice. 31st - Rounding the year off, the day was icy cold but dry.  2 Bullfinch were along the approach road early this morning, 3 Siskin headed N and 2 Firecrests were later seen in/around the fir tree next to the toilet block.  A totally frozen scrape was void of any ducks or waders.  2 Snipe and 1 Redshank touched down but did not stop, whilst the Pink footed and 7 White fronted Geese again opted for the fields.  600+ Wigeon, 1pr Tufted Duck and 88 Brent Geese decided to sit just off-shore.  5 Stonechats were located along the reedbeds/bushes. KA/GG
